General
  • Do I need to own an iPad to sign up?

Your readers will need an iPad to download and use your app, but you, as a publisher, do not need an iPad to use MagAppZine.

  • Can I offer subscriptions in my app?

When creating your app, you can choose whether to offer a six month or one year subscription, both, or none.

  • Can my existing print or other subscribers access content in the app without paying again?

At the current time, no, but this is something we are working on for the future.

  • What is a Digital Release Date (DRD)?

When you add a new issue to your app, you will choose a Digital Release Date for that issue. Digital Release Dates are every Monday, and you can choose any Monday in the future as your DRD as long as it is at least 48 hours from the time you add the issue.

  • Can I publish new content daily with MagAppZine?

MagAppZine is currently not equipped for publications that would like to digitally release issues more often than once a week. However, websites that are linked to from inside the issues can be updated as often as you'd like.

  • Can I display advertisements in my app?

Any advertisements that exist in the issues that you upload or on any included websites will be published within the app. Using our Links tool, you can link those ads to websites or videos, adding a layer of interactivity and usage data to your ads.

We will also soon offer iAds, Apple's digital-only ad network. You can choose to add iAds and share 50% of the incoming profit from the ads.

  • Can I cancel after signing up?

You can cancel at any time. Within 30 days of your cancellation, we will remove your app from the App Store.

  • Will my app be published internationally?

Yes, your app will be available in every international iTunes Store (over 90 countries).

  • Are MagAppZine apps available for any other devices or platforms than the iPad?

Currently, no, but we plan to expand to other platforms and devices in the future. Apple has about 85% to 90% market share of the total dollars spent on mobile apps, so it has not been justifiable to create apps on other platforms yet since users are spending 90% of their money on content on Apple devices. • Are MagAppZine apps available on the iPhone?

No, they are iPad-only apps. Reading a full page layout on a tiny screen is a bad user experience as the text becomes unreadably small. We are working on ways to expand to the iPhone in the future, but for now it does not make sense for publishers or their readers.
